Newsletter 29

24th July 2012

Dear Parents/Carers,

We’ve had a very successful and enjoyable year – thank you for all of your support.

Open Evening – It was lovely to see so many parents at our Open Evening. Thank you once again for your support throughout the year.

Oliver! – The Juniors did a fantastic job in their production of Oliver! The singing, dancing and acting were superb. There are some great video clips on our VLE in the Podcast and Video section.

Olympic Torches – Well done to Marcus Cobley, Caitlin Morrissey, Eleana Matos and Milly Carlin who all won awards in Stockport’s Olympic torch design competition. They all went to Stockport Plaza last Thursday to receive their awards and take part in a torch parade.

Infant Sports Day – We had hoped to fit sports day in last week but unfortunately the bad weather didn’t stop and so we didn’t get a chance. Classes have a packed calendar this week and so I’m afraid we will have to cancel Infant Sports Day for this year. Sorry for the disappointment.

Maths Challenge – Well done to our Year 5 and 6 children who won Cheadle Hulme High School’s Maths Challenge this year. All of the Year 5 and 6 classes in the local schools took part and Lane End came out on top! We also had three individual winners who were: Alex Aldridge, Alessandro Sardo and Harry Rangeley. Well done all!

Sunny Weather – Please provide your child with a cap and a bottle of water and put some sun cream on them before school during periods of sunny weather – thank you!

The Wizard of Oz – The children thoroughly enjoyed M and M Theatre Company’s production of The Wizard of Oz which they saw today.

Transition – All children met their new class teacher and spent time in their new classroom on Monday afternoon. We are all looking forward to the new classes in September.

Reading Books – please could you return all school library/reading books to school before the holiday.

Toy Day – On Thursday children can bring in a toy or game to play with – it will be their responsibility to look after their toy. Junior Sports Stars will also be providing some activities outside so children wanting to take part will need their P.E. kits in school.

Year 6 – We have to say good bye to the current Year 6 class at the end of the week. They have been a lovely class who have worked hard and with a good attitude throughout their time at Lane End and have achieved great success. We wish them all the best in their move to high school. Year 6 parents/relatives are invited to the Leavers’ Assembly on Thursday at 9:15am.

We break up after school on Thursday 26th July at 3:15pm.

We hope you all have a wonderful summer – the children are due back in school on Tuesday 4th September.

Yours sincerely,

James Twigg
