February - Newsletter 15

Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank you for your support over an enjoyable and rewarding half term.

We break up for the holidays after school on Friday (10th February). The children are back in school on Tuesday 21st February (as the Monday is an INSET day).

VLE

Do take the chance to visit the VLE over the holidays. There are lots of new and worthwhile activities and programmes for all of the children.

Stockport Council Admissions Consultation

Stockport Council is consulting on important admission arrangements for all primary and secondary schools in the borough including consultation on possible changes to the way catchment areas work. There is more information provided by the council overleaf and you can go on to www.stockport.gov.uk/haveyoursay to take part. The consultation runs until Tuesday 28th February 2012.

Please note that this is separate from the Local Authority’s feasibility study and remember that you can share your views and questions on the feasibility study in the ‘Parents and Whole School’ section of the VLE.

Robinwood

The Year 6 had a great time facing challenges at their activity centre residential and were a credit to the school. Mr Toyne will put some photos on the Year 6 VLE soon. There are also photos showing some highlights from each year group on our website in the ‘Our Work’ section.

David Carry – On Tuesday 21st February, Olympic swimmer David Carry is kindly taking a morning off his

gruelling training schedule to come in and talk to the children again. He will be talking about his training regime, the Growth Mindset needed to achieve success and how to overcome and learn from set backs. We are planning an Olympic Challenge Week for the summer term and there will be more assemblies and input for the children leading up to this. If you have any ideas or contacts who may be able to help please contact Miss Rainey at school or by email: stacey.rainey@laneend.stockport.sch.uk

We aim to be approachable and work in partnership with parents, so if there is anything you wish to discuss, please do not hesitate to come and talk to us.

Have a lovely half term.

Yours sincerely,

 James Twigg
