January - Newsletter 12 (15th January 2015)

Dear Parents/Carers,

Class assembly dates for this term are as follows:

Thursday 29th January at 10:10am – Reception

Thursday 5th February at 10:10am – Year 1

Thursday 12th February at 10:10am – Year 4

Thursday 5th March at 10:10am – Year 6

Thursday 19th March at 10:10am – Year 2

Thursday 26th March at 10:10am – Year 3

Each class will hold two class assemblies every year – parents and relatives are warmly invited. Please come in via the Community Room - the PTA kindly provide a coffee morning beforehand should you wish to wait after drop off (these are open to all parents/relatives). As with all school events we do allow photos and videos to be taken but these are for personal use only and should not be shared on social media.

PTA Swishing Night – we have unfortunately had to cancel this event due to a low number of responses. All those who bought a ticket have been informed and money refunded.

MEN Article - You may have seen the recent Manchester Evening News article which rates primary schools in Greater Manchester out of 5 stars. Previously we’ve always been shown as 4 or 5 stars overall in such ranking lists but this year it only shows us as 2 stars. Parents who have commented on this have given us a great deal of support, thank you! Everyone works so hard and the MEN information mis-represents the school because of how it has been worked out this year – I’ve contacted them to talk about this inaccuracy. We are never complacent and are always striving to improve further, but just so you know the Local Authority Advisor came in to school yesterday and had a look around every class and said we should be rating ourselves ‘Outstanding’ in all areas - so we must be doing something right!

Stranger-Danger – please remind your child about stranger-danger and we will do the same in school as there have been a couple of reports about incidents involving children at local schools being approached by strangers.
