July - Newsletter 26 (23rd July 2014)

Dear Parents/Carers,

Open Evening – from 6-8pm tonight (Wednesday 23rd July). Please look round the whole school as well as your child’s classroom and at their work. It is also an ideal opportunity to talk to the teachers. We hope to see you all there.

There has been a lot going on in school over the last couple of weeks, among other things:

  • Last Tuesday and Wednesday the Juniors did us proud with their fantastic production of ‘Let Loose’ – well done all!
  • On Thursday our woodwind players played brilliantly in their music assembly
  • On Friday we enjoyed a lovely evening at the PTA Picnic
  • All of the children really enjoyed M and M Theatre company’s production of The Hobbit which they saw on Monday morning this week
  • Monday was also our French theme day to celebrate Bastille Day and each class from Year 2 upwards worked with Carole Lee from the Language People
  • Our Young Entrepreneurs visited the Town Hall for the Dragon’s Den final on Tuesday this week
  • On Tuesday the Year 6 were visited by Andrew Phillips to talk about transition to high school and were also provided with a book kindly paid for by Cheadle Hulme Methodist Church on transition to high school. On the same day the Year 2’s enjoyed their Mexican day!
  • Well done to our guitarists who also did a great job at their music assembly this morning.
  • All classes had a lesson with their new teacher this morning.

We have more treats in store with the Lane End Commonwealth Games next Monday (28th July) – Mr Ward and our teachers will be taking the children for a variety of sports and we also have Dan Turner from Bramhall Lawn Tennis Club working with all the Infant classes and Chris Peacock from the Cheadle Lacrosse Club working with all of the Juniors. It should be a fun day – please could all children have their P.E. kit in school for the day. It would also be a good idea to apply sun cream, provide a cap and give your child a bottle of water if it’s a sunny day. Thank you!

Toy Day - On the final Tuesday (29th July) children will be allowed to bring in a toy, it will be their responsibility to look after it. Mobiles phones don’t count as toys! We will also have the Junior Sports Star inflatable and an inflatable football goal for classes to use!

Year 6 Leavers’ assembly – this is on Friday at 9:15am, we hope to see Year 6 parents there.

Parent Questionnaire – please return this by Friday if you haven’t done so already. Your feedback is appreciated and we use the questionnaires when forming our school improvement plans.

Mini Kidz – Apologies as the email address on the last newsletter was incorrect. Correct contact details are as follows, Contact email: minikidzcare@gmail.com or tel. 07980 107505.

Reminder - We break up after school on Tuesday 29th July and the children are due back in on Tuesday 2nd September. Please remember to bring in all dinner monies due on Monday.

We aim to be approachable and work in partnership with parents, so if there is anything you wish to discuss, please do not hesitate to come and talk to us.

Yours sincerely,

James Twigg
