July - Newsletter 31 (23rd July 2013)

Dear Parents/Carers,

We’ve had a very successful and enjoyable year – thank you for all of your support.

Open Evening – It was lovely to see so many parents at our Open Evening. Thank you once again for your support throughout the year.

Pirates of the Curry Bean – The Juniors did a fantastic job in their production of ‘Pirates of the Curry Bean’! The singing, dancing and acting were superb. I will put some video clips on our VLE in the Podcast and Video section.  The new staging and lights purchased by the PTA (with a wonderful contribution of over £800 raised by ex-pupil Melissa Ahmed – thank you again!) added brilliantly to the show too.

Website – I am updating the ‘School Events’ section of our website with some recent events and added photos to each of the class sections of some of the highlights of the year. Please have a look!

Charlotte’s Web – The children thoroughly enjoyed M and M Theatre Company’s production of Charlotte’s Web which they saw recently.

PTA Picnic – this was a lovely event and I thought there was a great atmosphere. Thank you to Bev Sangster and the rest of the PTA for all their hard work and organisation over the year and thank you to everyone who has helped at our PTA events. Thank you as well to all of you who have come and supported.

Parents’ Questionnaire – thank you very much to everyone who took the time to fill in a questionnaire on our VLE, we had a good number of responses this year. We will use the information to help up-date our School Improvement Plan for next year.

Transition – All children met their new class teacher and spent time in their new classroom on Monday morning. We are all looking forward to the new classes in September.

Reading Books – please could you return all school library/reading books to school before the holiday.

Staff News – I’m pleased to be able to let you know that Mrs Chamberlain is pregnant and likely to be taking her maternity leave from early-mid December.

Naomi and Emma’s World Wildlife Fund Stall – the Year 6 girls raised a fantastic £47.38 from their stall which will pay for the school to adopt a dolphin from the WWF (the preferred choice of animal when Emma and Naomi did their survey of the children). Well done girls!

Toy Day – On Friday children can bring in a toy or game to play with – it will be their responsibility to look after their toy.

Year 6 – We have to say good-bye to the current Year 6 class at the end of the week. They have been a lovely class who have worked hard and with a good attitude throughout their time at Lane End and because of this have made great progress over the years. We wish them all the best in their move to high school. Year 6 parents/relatives are invited to the Leavers’ Assembly on Friday at 9:15am.

We break up for the summer holidays at 3:15pm on Friday 26th July. School opens again on Tuesday 3rd September. Have a lovely summer everyone.

Yours sincerely,
