June - Newsletter 27 (12th June 2013)
Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome
back to the second half of the summer term – I hope that
you were able to enjoy the sunny weather during the half term break. Hopefully
we’ll see some more sun this half term so please remember that children can
bring caps/hats and bottles of water to school and please apply sun cream to
your child before they come to school. As we can’t apply sun cream to children
in school it is a good idea to use an ‘all day’ sun cream and/or send your
child into school with a sun cream stick for them to apply to themselves at
breaktime/lunchtime.
Just a reminder that children should arrive at school no earlier than 8:50am ready for the 9am start. The junior playground is supervised from this point and not before. Also please remind your child that if they are walking or cycling home on their own to leave for home straight away at the end of the day. Cycle helmets should be worn by all children who are on bikes and we’re happy to look after these in school.
PE
Kit – we would like to see all children in the correct P.E. kit: a
white t-shirt and black or blue shorts please. Jogging bottoms and a top/school
sweatshirt are also allowed for colder weather. Thank you for your help with
this.
The Summer
Term is always busy and we have a lot to look forward to this half term. There is a
list of important dates on the back of this newsletter and highlights include
our Junior Production of ‘Pirates of the Curry Bean’, a theatre visit from M
and M Productions who will be performing ‘Charlotte’s Web’ to the whole school,
our Sports Days and our Open Evening and Art Exhibition (when you will also
have the chance to buy a professionally framed picture produced by your child).
There will be some class assemblies and class trips to look forward to as well.
PTA – there is
a PTA meeting tonight (Wednesday 13th June) at 7:30pm. Everyone is
welcome. If you’d like to go to the PTA Ball on June 29th please
return your slip ASAP – thank you.
Staff News
After
15 years of excellent teaching at Lane End and a huge contribution to the
school and children Miss Lynch is leaving us to move to Scotland. We will
really miss her and wish her all the best with her move. Mrs Toyne is doing a
great job and will continue to teach the Reception Class. Miss Lynch will be in
school on Monday morning for a final assembly to say goodbye. If any parents
would like to make a contribution to a leaving gift please drop this in to the
office or send something in with your child in an envelope. You can also pop in
to school on Monday morning between 9:30 and 12 to say goodbye personally if
you’d like to.
Halle Trip - The
children who are learning to play the guitar, flute, clarinet and saxophone in
school have been invited to play with the Halle orchestra at the Bridgewater
Hall on Tuesday 25th June. If you haven’t already returned the slip giving
permission please do so this week – thank you. We have been informed that the
hall will be full with instrumentalists from across various schools in Stockport
and so unfortunately there are no spare tickets for parents.
Bag Pack - I informed you before of our past pupil Melissa Ahmed who is kindly volunteering to help raise money for a set of stage lights for school. Melissa has gathered together a group of past pupils who will be giving up their time to pack bags at Asda in the precinct on 29th and 30th June to help raise more money – please support them if you’re out doing your shopping. Thank you!
