June - Newsletter 28 (21st June 2013)
Dear Parents/Carers,
Sports Day
It is our Junior Sports Day on Monday (24th June) and
we’re keeping our fingers crossed for good weather. Junior parents have already
received a letter about the morning and we’ll start at 9:30am. I hope you’re
able to make it. Please apply sun cream to your child before school if
necessary and children should bring a bottle of water in for the morning. If
the weather is too bad and we have to make a decision on the day to cancel then
we will let you know by text as soon as we can and also put a message board
outside of school.
We haven’t set specific reserve dates for the sports days this
year. As we found last year, one bad weather day can easily be followed by
another and then we have to cancel the reserve day! Instead we will make sure
the forecast is good and check what other timetabled class and school events
are on and then let you know a day or two before we are hoping to hold the sports
day. If we do have to reschedule then you’re
very welcome to join us if you are available but everyone will understand if
you can’t make it at short notice.
We’ll have the same arrangements for the infant children on 1st July. The children have been practising and we are looking forward to both of our sports days.
Open Evening and Art Exhibition
Our open evening is on Thursday July 11th
from 6pm – 8pm. We
would love to see you all there. You will be able to look around the whole
school, look at your children’s work and talk to your child’s current class
teacher and teacher for next year. We are also holding our art exhibition on
this date. All of the children have produced a piece of art work which has been
professionally framed and there is an opportunity for you to buy these. More
details are attached.
Woodwind and
Guitar Assemblies
The instrumentalists are also going
to the Bridgewater Hall to play with the Halle on Tuesday next week (25th
June). It’s obviously very important that they all bring their instrument and
the music they’ve been given for the morning. Please also ensure that they
arrive on time for school as we will have to leave soon after register. Children
need to bring a packed lunch which they can eat on our return. It’s a wonderful
opportunity and I’m sure the children will enjoy it.
Mad Science – the
children have had five sessions so far and have three remaining sessions –
these are on: 4th, 11th and 18th July. There was a mistake on the initial letter from
Mad Science and there is now the rescheduled session due to the teachers’
strike next Thursday, so I hope that this clarifies what’s happening – thanks.
We aim to be approachable and work in partnership with parents, so if there is anything you wish to discuss, please do not hesitate to come and talk to us.
Yours sincerely,
James
