March - Newsletter 19

Dear Parents/Carers,

Please Complete a Parent Questionnaire - Thank You!

The Parent Questionnaire is now open on the VLE. We value your views and would really like all parents to complete the questionnaire to give us as full a picture as possible. It only takes a few minutes to complete and we use it to help prioritise our school improvement work. The questionnaire will be open until the start of the Easter holidays.

How to complete:

  • Log-on to the VLE with your child’s username and password
  • Click on the questionnaire link on the front page or go to the ‘parent and whole school’ section (if you are asked to enrol please say ‘yes’)
  • Fill in the questionnaire!

Thank you for your help.

Sports News – we’ve had a very active fortnight with matches for the Football A and B teams who have been playing very well and had good wins and a couple of narrow losses against Bolshaw, Greenbank and Queens Road. The A team played suberbly winning 3 out of 4 games and coming second in their group at Stockport County’s Powerleague Tournament. The netball team played against Cheadle Hulme School and we saw a superb 2-1win for Lane End. On top of all of this the country dancers did a fantastic job representing Lane End at Stockport Town Hall at the country dance festival.

Year 2 Infant Music Festival for Parents – ‘Eddie the Penguin Saves the World’. Year 2 parents/relatives are invited to the event at 7pm on Wednesday 28th March in the school hall.

Feasibility Study Meeting – the power-point from the meeting is now available in the parents’ section of the VLE for parents who were not able to make the meeting. The feedback received from the majority of parents who attended showed a good understanding as to why the feasibility study is being carried out and the potential benefits the development could have for the school. Governors also noted that the major concern was the traffic, which will form an essential part of the study. We will use the responses and queries we have received to update the VLE FAQ page next week. Thank you.

The Fire Brigade Visit Lane End – The children learnt about what the fire brigade do, and how important fire safety is, when the fire brigade spoke to them in assembly this week. The firemen who visited showed the children a suit and kit and explained how it helped them when they were fighting fires. They have left us some leaflets about fire safety at home and how you can contact them to have a free fire safety risk assessment – please ask at the office if you want one as there aren’t enough to send home to everyone.

We aim to be approachable and work in partnership with parents, so if there is anything you wish to discuss, please do not hesitate to come and talk to us.

Yours sincerely,
