May - Newsletter 26 (23rd May 2013)

Dear Parents/Carers,

PTA Summer Fair – Thank you!

Our PTA Summer Fair was a lovely event and raised a fantastic £2440 which we will put towards our planned trim trail and stage lighting. Thank you to all the parents, children and staff who gave up their time to organise and help – it really is appreciated. Thank you to everyone who manned a stall and stayed on an extra 1/2 hour or more to cover the stalls so we didn't have to close them. It would be brilliant to have more help next time to share the workload a bit more. Thank you as well to everyone who bought raffle tickets, donated prizes etc and came on the day to make it such a success.

There is a letter coming out before the break about the PTA Ball on 29th June.

Our Winning Streak Continues…

Well done to our tennis team who are through to the borough final after winning at Bramhall Lane Tennis Club yesterday. Our Girls’ Cricket Team also won the local Kwik Cricket Tournament yesterday and are through to the borough final in June. The boys’ team were runners up and came very close to getting through to the next round too. Well done all!

Year 5 Scarborough Residential – The children had a great time on their Scarborough residential and received excellent feedback on their behaviour and attitude from the hotel and all the museums etc. they visited whilst away. Well done Year 5 and thank you very much to the staff who gave up their time to accompany them on their visit.

Class Photographs – Please return any slips/money for class photos by the morning of 12th June. We hope you are happy with the photos – the display image is quite small and so we have put a full size copy of each photo on display in the entrance for you to have a look at too.

Website Updates – We have updated each of the class sections of the website showing photos of some of the highlights of the year so far – click on‘Our Work’ and then your child’s class. There are also some new photos of recent school events  in the ‘school events’ section of the website. Remember that there are lots of activities and useful links and sites on our VLE – these could be useful on a wet day in the holidays.

We aim to be approachable and work in partnership with parents, so if there is anything you wish to discuss, please do not hesitate to come and talk to us.

We break up for the half term holiday after school tomorrow (Friday 24th May) and the children are back in school on Tuesday 11th June (as we have an INSET day on the Monday).

Have a lovely break everyone.

Yours sincerely,

James Twigg
