May - Newsletter 20 (4th May 2017)

Dear Parents/Carers,

Staff News – I am delighted that Mrs Love has been appointed as Lane End’s new Headteacher from September. I am very confident that I will leave the school in a safe pair of hands and that it will continue to thrive with Mrs Love’s leadership. Mrs Love has written a message for parents/carers below:

As you all know, Lane End is a very special place and I feel extremely privileged to take on the role of Headteacher.  I am looking forward to working with you all more closely in the coming years to continue to provide an excellent and enjoyable education for your children.

If you have any questions at all please do not hesitate to contact me in school or via email - claire.love@laneend.stockport.sch.uk

Many thanks,

Claire Love

PTA Summer Fair – we are gearing up for the Summer Fair on Saturday 20th May from 12 – 3pm. Thank you for selling raffle tickets – please return all money, stubs and any unsold tickets to school by the week before the fair at the latest. It is our first non-uniform day tomorrow and children should bring in children’s tombola prizes – thank you! Please do sign up to help if you can – there is a sign-up sheet in the school entrance and we need a lot of help to ensure we have a successful fair. You can also return the slip that went home in the raffle ticket envelope.

Parking – some of our neighbours on Marlborough Avenue have complained that people are parking over their driveways. Please make sure that you are parking considerately on school drop-off and pick-up; it is not acceptable to park over someone else’s drive or in an unsafe way on the pavement. Thank you.

Scarborough Residential – our Year 5 had a great residential in Scarborough visiting castles and museums in York, Scarborough and Whitby linking to their history topic. Their behaviour was excellent and they represented the school very well indeed. Thank you to all of the staff who accompanied the children on their visit.

Play Leader Training – Year 5 have been very busy as they have also had playleader training this week with Mrs Mealand and coaches from Stockport Local Authority. We are looking forward to seeing our new playleaders in action with the infant children soon!

Walk of Light - Mrs Mclaughlin and family would like to pass on their thanks for the support for the Walk of Light which was mentioned on a recent newsletter. They raised a fantastic £4025 – exceeding their target of £3000 and with the total still rising. The walk was to raise awareness of men’s mental health issues and you can find out more on this website: www.patchpower.co.uk

We aim to be approachable and work in partnership with parents, so if there is anything you wish to discuss, please do not hesitate to come and talk to us.

Yours sincerely,

James Twigg
