Newsletter 22 - 16th April 2013

Dear Parents/Carers,

Teachers from Zambia– our visitors will now be arriving this Saturday and will spend some time in school next week. We look forward to welcoming them.

Readathon Sponsor Money – So far we have raised over £600 for the children’s charities, thank you very much to everyone who took part and has returned money. Please return any remaining sponsorship money and the sponsorship card to school this week. Thank you for your support for this very worthwhile charity and activity.

PTA  Family Fun Night - this  Friday (19th April) at 6:30pm – we hope that you are able to make it, please return your slip ASAP – £2 per adult, £1 per child. All the money raised is going to support school activities and projects. Thank you!

Please also see the PTA newsletter which is on the reverse and gives details of the Summer Fair etc.

Parent Governor

Can you help? We are in need of a new Parent Governor. A nomination form is attached and information is attached. The governing body play an important part in the life of the school and it is an interesting and rewarding post. The role of a Parent Governor is to work openly in partnership with the Headteacher and staff for the benefit of the School and its pupils (not in the interests of an individual child or parent).

If you are interested please fill in the form and return it by Friday 26th April. If you are interested but a little unsure and want to talk about the role then please don’t hesitate to come in and have a chat about it. I can also put you in touch with other Parent Governors who will be able to explain what they do.

Assemblies for this term: Year 6 – Thursday 18th April at 10:10am,   Year 2 – Wednesday 24th April at 10:10am,   Year 5 – Thursday 20th June at 10:10am,  Reception – Thursday July 4th at 10:10am, Year 6 Leavers’ Assembly – Friday 26th July at 9:15am.

Club Slips – please remember to return any club slips as soon as possible. It would be good to have some more choir members and some more children for the cricket club too – be confident and have a go! We have another new club on offer too – Mad Science Club, and a letter is coming home today about it. We need at least 15 children to take part for this to go ahead – please return the slip ASAP if you’re interested and we’ll let you know if this club is able to happen. The children enjoyed a ‘Mad Science’ assembly today. Fencing is able to go ahead starting tomorrow (Thursday 18th April).

We aim to be approachable and work in partnership with parents, so if there is anything you wish to discuss, please do not hesitate to come and talk to us.

Yours sincerely,

James Twigg
