The PTA Christmas Fair is on Saturday…

Thank you for all of your support -

It is our last non-uniform day on Friday – please can children bring in chocolate for the chocolate tombola or homemade cakes for the cake stall.

Please can we have all of the raffle money from the tickets you’ve sold in school this week.

Please sign-up to help if you can – we still need more volunteers and it is getting close! The more volunteers we have the more stalls/games etc. we can offer.

The children’s crafts will be on sale at the fair for £3.50 each (discount for siblings).

Finally – please remember to come to the fair – it’s a lovely event and raises much needed money for school!

Parents Evening and Book Fair

It was good to see you all at our parents evenings and thank you for the support for our book fair. Well done to the Pupil Forum who did a great job running it (with some extra help from some of our parents and Mr Toyne – thank you all). We earn 50% commission to spend on books for the school - as £620 worth of books were sold that is £310 worth of books for school.

Targets – please remember to look at your children’s targets which have been stuck in their homework book on target sheets. The targets have been written by your child’s class teacher to enable you to work on them at home with your child to support their ongoing learning. If you have examples of what you’ve done on the target/websites you have visited etc. they can be stuck or written in the back of their homework book.

We also gave out reading lists at parents evening – please do have a look at these and see if you can access any of the books for your child. A list for each class is also available on the school website – click on: ‘Key Information’ – ‘Reading at Lane End’ and then scroll down to the link to the recommended reading lists.

Finally please remember to sign up for Seesaw if you haven’t already done so. Each class has an account and you’ll be able to get an insight into what your child is doing at school as well as giving them an audience for some of their work – please ask your child’s teacher if you’re not sure how to use it.

Twitter – we are gathering followers and are pleased to see parents using our Twitter site. However, what is currently missing from the site is the children’s smiling faces we see every day! We’ve only been putting unrecognisable images on to Twitter. I’ve had a look at other schools’ Twitter feeds and most do now use recognisable photos of the children.  We’d like to do the same so that you can see the children’s learning and achievements at school. We won’t name the photos and won’t put photos of any children whose parents/carers have not given permission for photos on the website. However if you have given permission for photos on the website we’d like to be able to extend it to the school Twitter account - if you do not want your child to appear on the school Twitter account then please just let us know by sending a note in to school by Monday 5th December. We will then be able to use Twitter to show you the children taking part in some of our Christmas events etc.  Please do have a look if you haven’t already – there is a link to our Twitter page on the school website. Thank you.

Children in Need

Our Pudsey coin picture raised £206.14 (plus a few euros and almost a dollar!). Thank you to the children for bringing their coins in for Children in Need – your coin jars should be empty and ready to fill up again for next year now!

We aim to be approachable and work in partnership with parents, so if there is anything you wish to discuss, please do not hesitate to come and talk to us.

Yours sincerely,
