October - Newsletter 4 (10th October 2013)

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are enjoying the new academic year and are now in full flow. Please find attached a copy of the feedback from our Parents’ Questionnaire carried out in July and information about this year’s School Improvement Plan and some of our key priorities. We always aim for the very best for your children and want them to work hard, behave well and have lots of fun whilst at Lane End. It was lovely to read some very positive comments about the school from parents in the feedback and whilst we are very proud of our school we are also always striving to improve further – the school improvement plan outlines how we will aim to do this. We can’t do this alone and thank you for your ongoing support.

Cross Country – it was a proud moment for the school when we took part in our first inter-school cross country race on Tuesday at Queens Road this week. The children showed great determination and good spirit. The girls’ team came second and the boys’ team came fifth and we had a great success with Jasmine Brown winning the girls’ race. Well done to everyone involved and thank you to all the parents who helped with lifts and also to Mr Ward for organising the cross country club and competitions for us.

More Sporting Success – well done to the football team who played brilliantly against Ladybrook Primary School on Wednesday beating them 4-1 and 5-1 in the cup match and getting through to the next round.

PTA Quiz Night – Friday 11th October at 7:30pm – You can still get a ticket for tomorrow’s Quiz Night. It’s only £3 per ticket and all proceeds go to the PTA fundraising for school. Hope to see you there.

PTA Ladies Fashion Show (Ladies only!) -  There is a letter attached about this event which is on Thursday 14th November at 7:30pm. Tickets cost £5. Please send your slip back ASAP. Thank you.

Visit to Zambia– Mr Vallance returned to school on Monday after a fantastic trip to Zambia and shared his photos and videos with the children in assembly today. We will put some of these on the school website soon.

Harvest Assembly –Please remember that you can bring in the gifts for The Wellspring Kitchen from tomorrow and up to Thursday next week. Thank you.

We aim to be approachable and work in partnership with parents, so if there is anything you wish to discuss, please do not hesitate to come and talk to us.

Yours sincerely,

James Twigg
