October - Newsletter 5 (17th October 2013)

Dear Parents/Carers,

We’ve had a lovely first half term and I have seen a great deal of exciting learning going on in all classes.

PTA Quiz  / Macmillan Coffee Morning

The PTA Quiz was a great success and we raised £174 for school. Thank you to everyone who came and to Bev Sangster and the PTA for organising. Well done to ‘All Roads Lead to Lane End’ who were the winning team!

Thank you as well to the PTA and everyone who supported the MacMillan Coffee Morning - £183 was raised for this excellent cause.

Our next PTA meeting is on Wednesday 30th October from 7:30 – 8:30pm and we’d love to see you there.

Our PTA Advent Christmas Fair is on Saturday  30th November from 12:00 – 3pm. It’s always a great family event so please put it in your diary. We will have our three non-uniform days (when children come to school in their own clothes in exchange for a gift for the fair) on the three Fridays before the fair beginning on Friday 15th November when children bring in something for the children’s tombola. Thank you again for your support with this and we’ll send more information about the fair nearer the time. Please start thinking about whether you can help because every person makes a big difference.

Harvest and Assemblies – thank you very much for all the donations to the Wellspring Kitchen as part of our Harvest celebrations this year. The Year 4 children did a great job linking Harvest to their work on Ancient Egypt in their Harvest Class Assembly today. Rev Gill Newton and Emma Coe from Cheadle Hulme Methodist Church also came into school yesterday to present an assembly on Harvest. On Monday PCSO Helen Hunt came into assembly to reinforce our messages about stranger-danger and what to do if you get lost.

Parents Evenings are on Monday 11th (Y1 and Y5 only), Tuesday 12th (all classes except Year 1 and Year 5) and Wednesday 13th November (all classes). A sign up sheet for a time slot will be available in the school office area from 8:00am on Wednesday 30th October. If you can’t make it in to school you can phone from this time to arrange an appointment (please be patient as it can get busy). We really hope to see all parents there.

Ladies Fashion Show (on 14th November at 7:30pm) - tickets can still be bought at £5 each (with complimentary drink). Please return your slip ASAP.

We break up tomorrow (Friday 18th October) and the children are due back in on Tuesday 29th October as we have an INSET day on the Monday .

We aim to be approachable and work in partnership with parents, so if there is anything you wish to discuss, please do not hesitate to come and talk to us.

Yours sincerely,
