Remembrance Day 2018

The whole school made poppies and we held our silence outside to remember everyone who has fought for our country. Y6 wrote poems to read to everyone.

 

Pirates of the Curry Bean July 2018

 

Our KS2 children put on an amazing production of Pirates of the Curry Bean.  Their acting, singing and comedy timing were all fantastic!

 

Science and Engineering Week 2018

All of the children worked in threes with children from two other year groups, to design and test their 'rocket cars' based on Bloodhound.  It has been a very exciting week so far... (see photos above)

 

 

Slow Bike Race

Our annual slow bike race was the exciting finale to our 'Tour de Lane End' Cycle to School Week.

Start Your Day The Hallé Way

Ewan Easton MBE and Jim Muirhead from the world renowned Hallé Orchestra visited school to deliver 'Start your Day the Hallé Way'. This was a truly inspirational interactive performance for the whole school.

 

PTA Trim Trail Opening

The children are thoroughly enjoying using our new Trim Trail which was funded by the PTA. The Mayor and Mayoress of Stockport came to Lane End for the official opening.

 

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

The junior children wowed us with their production of this Roald Dahl classic.

Zambia

We have continued to develop our 'Connecting Classroom' links with three schools in Zambia and St Simons and St Peters Primary Schools in Stockport. Three teachers from Zambia came to visit Lane End and Miss Rainey visited Zambia to further develop our link.

 

Maths Week

A Busy Autumn Term

The children performed brilliantly at our Junior Production.

 

Visitors from Zambia

In April we were visited by 3 headteachers from our partner school in Zambia. Our international school council helped to plan the visit and the headteachers spent time in assembly and each class as well as accompanyiong children to Bramhall Hall and Lyme Park.

 

iSing Pop

The children thoroughly enjoyed learning the songs and dances for iSing Pop and the concert at Cheadle Hulme Methodist Church was truly amazing.

 

Science and Engineering Week

Science and Engineering week started with a bang when Mr Vallance launched a rocket on the school field! We learnt all about movement and the children showed a great enthusiasm for all of the science investigations and demonstrations. 

 

Reading for Pleasure

We have a brand new library funded by the PTA and some great new books to go in it! We also have new books for the classrooms and have been talking to the children about how much fun it is to read and how much you can get out of it. On top of all this some children's authors have visited school and we enjoyed World Book Day in March.

 

It's Beginning to look a lot like Christmas

We're getting a lot out of the build up to Christmas with rehearsals and performances of the Nativity and Carol Concert, Christmas Crafts to make and sell at the Christmas Fair, French Christmas lessons, a trip to the Church to watch 'No Room at the Inn' and much more festive fun and learning!

 

Maths Success

At a recent assembly the children received two awards for maths.

 

Charity Month

The children have been working hard raising money for their chosen charities.

 

We are looking forward to our Olympic Challenge Week beginning on 18th June and in preparation for it have been learning about the Olympic and Paralympic Values.
 
 

The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Celebrations

We really got into the spirit of the Jubilee celebrations with our street party and Union Jack kite flying.
  

 

Puzzle Day

The children were able to put their growth mindset into action during our Puzzle Day.

 

Developing our 'Growth Mindset'

We have been working with the children and whole school community on developing and using our 'Growth Mindset' to get the most out of our opportunities and learning.

All of the children were amazed when they saw a hot air balloon on the school field!

 

Money Skills

The children in Year 5 and 6 learnt important money skills and took part in budgeting, marketing and sales activities with Barclays Bank.

 

Bugsy Malone

The Junior Production of Bugsy Malone was a great success.

 

Visitors in Assembly

We regularly invite visitors into school to talk to the children in assembly. This gives the children a broader experience and understanding of the world. 

 

Olympic Swimmers at Lane End

Olympic swimmers Keri-anne Payne and David Carry came to school to talk to the children about the effort it takes to gain success and the 2012 London Olympics.

 

School Garden

The children have been learning about the environment and getting their hands dirty in our school garden.

The children raised money for Children in Need by face-painting spotty faces!

 

Open Evening

Our Open Evening was on Thursday 15th July from 6-8pm. It is a chance for parents to look at their child’s work from the year and to have a look around the school at the work all of the classes have be doing.

Earth Week

Earth Week - Our Earth Week has been a huge success. The children have been learning about their environment, from local to global. Here are a few photographs of some of the exciting activities that have been taking place.

  

Chinese New Year lunch

Chinese New Year lunch - The Chinese New Year fell on February 10th this year. This marked the beginning of the The Year of the Tiger. Many of the children enjoyed a Chinese meal prepared by our school cook.

  

Expo Chef

On Wednesday 20th January a chef came into school for most of the day to perform the Expo Chef Show. Expo Chef is an interactive cooking show that demonstrates how to make food fun, easy and healthy.

 

Snowtime

Snowtime - January 10 The children behaved extremely well and enjoyed the snow sensibly which has been great.

  

Christmas at Lane End

Lane End's Got Talent!

Mrs Lenaghan organised our second Lane End's Got Talent show . It showed off the wonderful talents of our children. Talents on show included: singing, dancing, sports and playing musical instruments. Well done to everyone...

 

 Children in Need

The children at Lane End Primary School raised £155.95 for Children in Need by bringing in their loose change from home to make a huge coin picture of Pudsey Bear.

  

Black History Month

The children at Lane End Primary School have been learning about Black History in assembly during Black History Month. We learnt about Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King who both campaigned for equal rights for Black people in America.

 

 

Mark Hunter MP visits Lane End -

Representatives from Lane End Pupil Forum met with Mark Hunter MP before school this morning. They had previously written to him about the traffic problems outside school at the beginning and end of the school day.

 

Harvest

The children have been growing vegetables in the garden and October was the time to harvest them. We harvested carrots, onions, leeks, corn, pumpkins, beans and courgettes (the cabbage and cauliflower are still growing).

 

 Gardening Morning -

The Young Writers’ Club have been meeting with Mr Toyne on Wednesdays after school. They wrote this newspaper report about a recent school event. School Garden Gets Ready for Spring!

 

PTA School Garden Opening

Our PTA School Garden was officially opened on Tuesday 16th June by the Deputy Mayor of Stockport. All of the children and staff watched the opening. We were joined by parents and also by some of the people who had made the garden possible.
