Visitors from Ghana and Zambia

Our visitors from Zambia and Ghana really enjoyed their week and the children got a lot out of meeting them and asking them questions about their countries and the schools they work in (they were all teachers or head teachers).

We held a special assembly for the African teachers which included a country dancing show and some music from our talented musicians.

The African teachers had their first ever experience of snow and enjoyed building a snowman with the children.

The second week back after half term we are having an ‘Africa Week’ to further the children’s understanding – more photos to follow.

The link has been funded by the British Council and, for our school, was organised by Mrs Love. Thank you also to the PTA who also donated £500 to help.

The link involves three Stockport Schools these are: Lane End Primary School, St Simons Primary  and Outwood Primary.

Three schools from Zambia: Buntungwa Basic School, SOS Children’s Village of Zambia trust Hermann Gmeiner Basic School, Kitwe BasicSchool.

Three schools from Ghana: Catholic Jubilee Boys’ School, Pedu M/A ‘B’ primary, Amanful Catholic Boys’ School

The teachers from all the schools got a chance to meet and discuss the similarities and differences between their schools. The teachers were shown the sights of Stockport and visits included the Town Hall, a football match atStockport County and a trip to Lyme Park.

Mr Vallance will be going to Zambia in June and bringing back his experiences and photos to share with the children.
