iSing Pop

iSingPOP is a primary school singing and recording project designed to give children the chance to record their very own CD and perform in a concert. The project is designed to give the children a thoroughly enjoyable experience whilst improving their performance skills, helping them to gain confidence and work as a team. iSingPOP is part of Innervation Trust, a Christian organization with charitable status, with over 10 years’ experience working with children and young people across the UK.

We took part in this five day project in which every child in the school learnt a set of catchy and energetic pop songs. The children loved working with our iSing Pop tutor J and their teachers to learn the songs and dances. The songs were then recorded at the school by the iSing Pop technical team and then mixed and mastered at their recording studios.

The week after we held a spectacular concert at Cheadle Hulme Methodist Church which featured all the children in the school and provided a great opportunity for school, church and community to come together. The church was completely full and there was an amazing atmosphere with both children and adults thoroughly enjoying the concert.

We had loads of positive feedback about iSing Pop – it really was a very special event and we were so pleased that so many people enjoyed the concert at the church so much. The children did brilliantly and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.

J, our fantastic iSing Pop tutor, really enjoyed his time at Lane End too, saying, "After an initial 30 seconds of 'shyness,' the children of Lane End joyfully entered into the spirit of our iSing POP project, and immediately made me feel at home. It's rare to find such a welcoming atmosphere on the very first morning, with staff and students engaging so naturally with each other and with their guests. I thoroughly enjoyed singing, eating and chatting with the kids throughout our week and look forward to returning in the future with new songs."

We’d love to have iSing Pop back sometime and in the meantime we are capitalising on the children’s enthusiasm for singing with Jill Henderson-Wilde, Stockport Music Service’s ‘Vocal Animateur’ (singing teacher), who is coming in each Tuesday this term to work with each class. We  have also started a new Lane End Primary School Choir who meet with Mrs Downing and Mrs Parker each Wednesday after school and in June there is a chance for the children who are learning a musical instrument to play with the Hallé orchestra. On top of all of this the Year 5 children started their class band this term with woodwind and brass instruments - they're making great progress already.

The photos below show the children learning the songs and dances in school. We will also be adding photos of the concert later.
