Olympic Challenge Week

Our Olympic Challenge Week celebrated the Olympic's being hosted in London and linked with our work on facing a challenge and using our 'Growth Mindset'. The children took part in sporting and other challenges. . We held a fantastic opening ceremony in which each class represented one of the Olympic or Paralympic Values and had a closing ceremony at the end of the week to celebrate our achievements.

Other exciting events have included a visit from Olympic hopeful Elle Baker who runs the 5000m and who spoke to us about how she has overcome and learnt from challenges in her career.

Lynn and Dougal also came into school. Lynn brought her Olympic torch with her and told us her inspirational story and the reasons she was chosen to run a leg of the torch's journey to London. Dougal, Lynn's assistance dog, was very unperturbed about being in school and relaxed calmly on the stage!

Vanessa Morrissey from Adidas, came in to assembly to talk to us about the Olympics and to launch our Olympic Poetry competition - we had some fantastic entries.

The whole school had a taster session of the Olympic sport of taekwando. The children learnt about the respect and discipline needed to achieve in the sport. The coaches really felt that the children excelled and brought an excellent attitude to the sessions.

The children have been creating olympic themed art and design work and have enjoyed a whole host of challenges in class.
