Zambia 2014

We have developed our links with the three schools in Kitwe, Zambia and the other two schools in Stockport.

We worked together with the Stockport schools to teach each other playground games (including the current Lane End craze of cat's cradle) and visited each other's school. We wrote about these games and shared our work with the Zambian teachers when they came in June. They also shared a book about playground games in Zambia with us and we tried some of these games out.

We had a special meal for the Zambian teachers with food generously provided by the Co-operative in Cheadle Hulme - representatives from our staff, governors, parents and children all attended. The Zambian teachers also showed us how to play some of their playground games at playtime and talked about Zambia in assembly and class.

Year 4 found out more about Zambia as part of their topic work. They also created a solar oven which reflects the heat from the sun and is sometimes used for cooking in Zambia. On a sunny day it almost works in Cheadle Hulme!

Miss Rainey visited Zambia during the October half term holidays and went to our three partner schools. She brought back stories and photos from her visit to share with all of the children.
