We have a very active and supportive PTA at Lane End Primary School. All parents can get involved. Please see the minutes or the school newsletter for the date of the next meeting. The PTA hold lots of fundraising events which allow the school to fund projects such as the School Garden and the School Library, enrich the school's curriculum with new resources and are also a great way to meet other parents and families. There are events for parents, families and children throughout the year, e.g. Quiz Nights, Discos, Family Picnic and the Summer and Christmas Fair.
PTA meetings take place in school and are advertised on the school newsletter. They start at 7:30pm and take about an hour - all parents are more than welcome to come and we'd love to see you there.
Chair - Bev Sangster
I am very proud to be continuing to be the Chair of the PTA, after sharing the role with Kate Godfrey for the previous 12 months. I have 2 children at Lane End and joined the PTA back in January 2010.
I’ve attached an extract from a PTA poem:-
What is it for? You say, backing away,
The short answer is fundraising, pennies and pounds,
The school’s tight stretched budget can’t always go round.
We buy extra resources, for learning and play,
To enrich and enhance our children’s school day.
Who wants to join our school PTA?
This is partly what the PTA does as we do raise money to buy the nice to have things the school cannot fund themselves, such as the garden and upgrading the library. But, we also want a social side to the PTA so run social nights such as the Quiz and Ball.
Being a member of the PTA is not about attending every meeting but supporting the events we do organise. The Christmas and Summer Fairs are our 2 biggest fundraisers of the year and need the most help, especially on manning the stalls. Just ½ hour running a stall can make a big difference.
If you do want to be more involved with the organising side please come along to one of our meetings. These are either on a Monday/Wednesday in the staff room, from 7.30 – 8.30pm.
Can’t make it to a meeting but want to speak with someone? Our new point of contact can help you. These are parents/carers who are normally at the meetings or events who can pass on your ideas and comments, or you catch me at the next event or in the playground.
