June - Newsletter 23 (23rd June 2016)

Dear Parents/Carers,

Parent Pay – as mentioned in our last newsletter we will be starting to use Parent Pay, a secure online payment system, for payments to school (dinner money, trips, music lessons etc) in September. This will make payments more efficient for both home and school. Next week (w/c 27th June) you will receive a letter explaining how to set up your account (with your personal username and password). Please set up your account as soon as possible after receiving this information so that you have chance to look at the site and are ready to use it when necessary. You will also receive an introduction to Parent Pay leaflet with your letter and will find additional helpful information online once you have logged onto your account.

In September we are aiming for all payments to be made via parent pay rather than by cash or cheque. To help out with the transition we will still be able to take cash and cheque for the first half term (up to the October holiday) if necessary. All parents who have a bank account or credit card are able to pay online via Parent Pay. Please let Mrs Titterington know if you do not have these facilities as we can explain how you can pay via Parent Pay using cash at a PayPoint (our nearest PayPoint is Tesco on Station Road).

PTA Ball – Please return your slip for tickets, the deadline has been extended to Friday. It is a fun night with a buffet, raffle and dancing until late!

P.E. Kit - In order to smarten up our appearance during P.E. and help ensure our sporting prowess is matched by our attire we are going to slightly alter the P.E. kit requirements from September. We wanted to give you advanced notice so that you didn’t get a new kit organised for September before receiving this information. From September all children should have:

Blue shorts and a blue Lane End P.E. T-shirt, pumps/trainers, a plain blue sweatshirt or blue tracksuit top and blue jogging trousers for outdoor P.E.

Previously we have said blue or black for the joggers and shorts and we think by limiting the colour choice to blue it will make sure the children look much smarter – particularly important for when we have sports events with other schools. The plain blue sweatshirts, jogging trousers and shorts can be bought relatively cheaply from most large supermarkets or from school uniform suppliers. The Lane End P.E. T-shirt is the main addition – it is royal blue with the school logo (as on the school jumper). These are available from Zenith Children’s Wear for the very reasonable price of £4.15 – they can also be ordered from Davensports (£7 - £7.50 size dependent) and Monkhouses (£5.75).

Zenith Children’s Wear are also now offering other ‘Lane End’ branded items which you may want your child to have for school – hats, bags etc. I have attached an order form to this newsletter for your convenience. They deliver to school each Friday and will make arrangements for delivery with you if you order over the summer holidays. They also have a website and you can currently order some items online: http://www.zenithchildrenswear.co.uk All Lane End school items, including our P.E. kit, will be available to order on this website in the next couple of weeks.

Accident Forms - Following on from our staff first Aid training with Millie’s Trust earlier this year, Mrs Love has organised for a new accident form to replace our current accident books and bumped head letters/accident letters. If your child receives first aid at school they will be given a ‘new look’ accident form to bring home giving you some details about what happened. As before, we will still phone home if we feel the injury warrants further attention or we feel it is important you have more information straight away.

Twitter – I have now tweeted 68 times so if you haven’t had a look yet please click on the link on our website or follow us @LEPCheadleHulme from your twitter account! Recently on Twitter – Year 2 chicks, some amazing writing, links to our newsletters, Year 4 and 5 at the Plaza, sporting success and much more!

Sports Days – parents and relatives are very welcome and, fingers crossed for the weather, we are hoping to go ahead as planned. Monday 27th June – Infant Sports Day, Monday 4th July – Junior Sports Day. Both sports days start at 9:30am. Letters have already been sent home with more information.

Wind in the Willows – Our Junior Production this year promises to be perfect for the summer – it will be sunny on stage even if it is wet outside! The junior children are starting to learn the songs and these are available at home to sing along to on our VLE in the Parent/Whole School section.

Tennis Team – well done to our tennis team: Mia, Hannah, Bowen and Isaac (from Year 3) and Rosie, Scarlett, Noah K and Alfie H (from Year 4). They won their heats against other local schools a few weeks ago. We could only take 4 children to the Stockport finals and the Year 3’s represented us very well yesterday; they played brilliantly against all of the other school teams which had qualified. They came third in Stockport overall – a fantastic achievement!

Music opportunities for children in Stockport

We are looking forward to our visit to the Bridgewater Hall to see the Halle next Wednesday (29th June) – I know the music service have already double-checked the coach arrangements! Our choir and instrumentalists will leave from the Methodist Church at 9am so please can they all meet there at 8:45am. We will be back at school for lunch time. Please ensure that you have returned your permission slip – thank you.

We are fortunate to have an active Music Service in Stockport which, along with instrument tuition, also offers opportunities for children outside of school. The three Music Service choirs (Young Voices, Junior Voices and VoxBox) will all be performing as part of the Stockport Music Service Festival on the Field over the weekend of 1st-3rd July. The Music Service is also taking the opportunity to run some taster sessions for pupils who may be interested in joining the groups in September. These sessions are free of charge and will take place at the Music Service (The Fairway, SK2 5DS) as follows:

Young Voices – an invitation to pupils currently in Reception and Year 1

Mondays 4th, 11th and 18th July: 4.00 – 4.50 pm
