November - Newsletter 6 (5th November 2014)

Dear Parents/Carers,

We hope you had a good half term week and welcome back to the second half of the Autumn Term.

It seems early but we already need to start thinking about the run up to Christmas as our PTA Christmas Fair is on the way: Saturday 29th November from 12 – 3pm. We really hope you will all be there and please do also consider helping out. A sign-up sheet will be available during parents evening and every helper will be entered into a raffle for a bottle of champagne!

To help collect items for the fair we will be having 3 non-uniform days:-

Friday 14th November – Please could children bring in a prize for the children’s tombola

Friday 21st November – Any unopened bottle for the bottle tombola (e.g wine, sauce, bubble bath etc)

Friday 28th November – Cakes, chocolates or a prize for a hamper

Thank you very much!

Information on the school website: Please have a look at the curriculum information available on our website for each year group. It outlines the learning in each year group under the new national curriculum – go to the school website and click on ‘our school’ then ‘curriculum’.   - Click here There are also links to general information about each class on this page previously contained in the Booklets for Parents. If you need a paper copy of any of this information please don’t hesitate to ask.

September also saw the start of a new Special Needs Code of Practice for schools. Each school is required to publish a school offer outlining their provision. Our school offer is available on our website: click on ‘Parents’ then ‘Support for Learners’. - Click here.

Parents Evening (next week for most classes and at the end of November for Year 3) – thank you to everyone who has signed up for an appointment. We’d like to see all parents so please do sigh up if you haven’t already- either come in to school or give us a ring to make an appointment.

Club News - Zambia Art Club has now finished as Miss Rainey took the pictures to our partner schools in Zambia – they loved them! There is no football club this half term only the planned matches. Girls football club run by Mr Ward and Miss Rainey has started on Wednesday lunch times as has book making club run by Mrs Toyne. There will be no Country Dancing club tomorrow (Thursday) as Mrs Chamberlain is not in school this week – you should have also received a text about this, sorry for the inconvenience.

Welome back to Miss Rainey who has returned from her trip to Zambia – she will be sharing the stories of her travels with her class and the rest of the school.

Children in Need is on Friday 14th November. As we already have a non-uniform day (for the fair – see above) the children can make their non-uniform spotty if they wish! We will also have an inter-class competition to see which class can fill a spotty bucket with coins to donate to Children in Need – so please can children bring in some loose change to help fill the buckets – thank you!

Following our successful sponsorship event for the NSPCC which raised a fantastic total of £2904.61 (thank you!) the children in Years 5 and 6 are going to be doing some work on child safety with the NSPCC on Wednesday 19th November.

PTA Quiz night – this Friday from 7:30pm! It’s a great night and more tickets are available – please reply before Friday to get your ticket. Tickets cost £2.50 each. Thank you!
