September - Newsletter 3 (26th September 2014)

 Dear Parents/Carers,

Well done to our cross country team who came second in the boys’ event and also second in the girls’ event at Cheadle Hulme School on Tuesday. All of the children ran well but a special mention to Charlie Crowther in Year 6 who came first in the boys’ race and Becky Seymour in Year 6 who came second in the girls’ race. The next Stockport event is at Lane End on Wednesday November 12th after school.

Following our NSPCC assembly on Monday all of the children have brought home a sponsorship form for ‘Buddy’s Big Work Out’ which is taking place on Monday (29th September). As mentioned in the letter, children should come to school in sports kit on Monday – they don’t need to bring their uniform and can wear their sports kit all day – it could be a football kit, tracksuit, running gear or their normal PE kit. Do please make sure your child has trainers or pumps though please.

On Monday each class will take part in 5 ‘work out’ activities – keep fit type exercises (star jumps, running, skipping etc.). Each activity is worth 20 points – giving 100 points in total. Children can be sponsored per point, or as is often done as a total for taking part in the activity.

Please help your child to get sponsorship for this very worthwhile cause. As an incentive the children can earn special NSPCC badges for their sponsorship. Sponsorship money should be returned to school by 7th October. Thank you very much for your support.

PTA - The PTA do a great job raising money for the school to enrich the experience of all of the children. A PTA newsletter came home this week with a list of planned events - we hope that you can support the PTA and school by attending these events. We have a fantastic £5000 towards our trim trail so far but still need more – see the totaliser in the community room window. The next event is the Children’s Disco on Friday 17th October and a letter was on the reverse of the PTA newsletter. Please return your slip and money to school – thank you.

The PTA also organised our MacMillan Coffee Morning today which was well attended - any remaining cakes are being sold after school today (a useful message if you happen to be stood in the playground on Friday after school reading this!). Thank you to the PTA for organising, everyone who came to support and anyone who donated the lovely cakes!

Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)

Our VLE has been updated and children will be getting usernames and passwords on Tuesday. Usernames will be the same as last year but passwords have changed. They will come home in a VLE booklet outlining the rules of the VLE and the different elements which are useful for your child and yourself. Please do have a good look through. We will also stick the username and password inside of your child’s reading record or homework book.

We aim to be approachable and work in partnership with parents, so if there is anything you wish to discuss, please do not hesitate to come and talk to us.

Yours sincerely,
